Gianluca Corona

Realist figurative painter

I graduated from the Brera Fine Arts Academy in Milan, and trained at the studio of Mario Donizetti, in Bergamo. My work is inspired by the art of the great Masters of the 16th and 17th centuries, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of the still life and portrait genres, with particular attention to traditional techniques and materials. What interests me is investigating the life of the objects I paint. I put these subjects in position, illuminating them as if it were a portrait, to make their character shine through and allow their surfaces, their flavours, their softness to be perceived.
